On Tuesday 14th October Westgate took sixteen children to Knockhall for the annual inter school cross country competition. There were sixteen schools competing in some very hard fought races. Following recent heavy rain the Knockhall field was quite muddy and made conditions even harder for the runners.

Children in Year 3 or 4 had to complete two laps of the field whereas those in Year 5 or 6 had to run a stamina sapping three circuits. All the Westgate runners completed the run and gallantly kept going in the tough conditions. There was a mighty run from Kye, who finished third in his race, and was awarded a medal for his endeavours.

We hope the runners enjoyed themselves and we are already looking forward to next year’s event.
