PROPOSAL TO CONVERT WESTGATE PRIMARY SCHOOL TO ACADEMY STATUS IN APRIL 2016
We have been considering for some time the potential of the conversion to academy status and the benefits the school will see as a result of this change. We have considered many different options and our Governors have made a unanimous decision to become an academy and as part of converting to academy status, join the Cygnus Academies Trust, a new Multi Academy Trust that is being established.
We have now reached the point that we need to seek the views of the local community, parents, students and staff on these proposals. We will be running a consultation process from 7th December 2015 to 29th January 2016 to both help you understand what is being proposed and to gather your views.
Meetings are scheduled for the 13th January 2016 which will consist of a brief presentation about what Academy Status would mean for Westgate Primary School, followed by a question and answer session. Representatives from the school’s Governing Body will also be in attendance. The details of the meetings are as follows :
Staff Meeting – 13th January 2016 at 3.30pm
Parents/Public Meeting – 13th January 2016 at 6pm
A ‘Drop-In’ session will be held on 21st January 2016 between 2.30pm and 6.30pm for individuals to ask any specific questions.
It is essential that we gather as many views and opinions as possible, and answer any questions as part of the consultation process.
We understand that some parents, carers and other members of the community may not be able to attend the meeting so we have added a link to the Consultation leaflet below which provides information about some of the questions you may have. We have also provided a link below for respondents to provide feedback via an online form.
We look forward to hearing from you and receiving your feedback.
