At Westgate Primary School, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils, staff and parents. We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, everyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.

At our school we help children:

  • to understand their emotions and feelings better

  • to feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries

  • to form and maintain relationships

  • to promote self esteem and ensure they know that they count

  • to be confident and ‘dare to be different’

  • to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks

At our school we help parents:

  • to share and empathise with their child's emotions and feelings better

  • to feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries

  • to maintain positive relationships with their child

  • to embrace their self esteem and ensure they reflect this on to their child

  • to be confident to praise their child to ‘dare to be different’

  • to develop their emotional resilience and to share and manage any setbacks

  • Together we can be the best that we can be!

There will be links for help, support and advice as well as what we can do to relax and take care of ourselves.

These will be for adults and children.
