Tuesday 20 July 2021 Year 6 Leavers 2021 Class of 2021 – I thought I’d start with some of my favourite memories of you as a class: Victorian Day. You really did get into role and you were all so quiet, just as it would have been in the Victorian Days. I will remember your reactions to the books we read like Varjak Paw, A Monster Calls and Tell Me No Lies. Your Oliver Twist narratives were amazing too. I could see how much you had improved your writing techniques. The perfect pieces of watercolour art on biomes and Victorians, the Zoom games during lockdown, the times table shoot outs – especially being beaten on the rare occasion and some funny class moments , where I tried to hide my smile. When you when you performed Lean on Me using Makaton. It really made me smile. A proud teacher moment.

Tuesday 9 February 2021 1066 Day On Thursday 29th April we were lucky enough to have a free workshop about 1066. This workshop looked at the Battle of Hastings but also King William's ability to turn a negative into a positive. For example, when he saw Haley's Comet he saw it as a good omen that one day he may be king while others were convinced that it meant the end of the world! The children learned about the historical events leading up to the battle and also were encouraged to have King Williams positive outlook. Towards the end of the workshop they were given techniques to help them be calm and relax. It was a fantastic workshop and the children really enjoyed it. The facilitators of the workshop also remarked on what wonderful children we had at this school and we couldn't agree more!
